New Requirements from the Environmental Protection Agency

The Environmental Protection Agency’s has introduced a requirement that producer responsibility fees for electronics must be differentiated based on the chemical content of the products and that a higher price must be charged for certain products.

This means that the Price List is Differentiated as Follows:

  • Electronic products where any component contains 0.1% or more by weight of substances from the Candidate List in the “REACH Regulation” will receive the regular price.
  • For products for which you already pay full chemical tax, a discount of 10% is payable, provided that the product does not contain any other substances from the Candidate List.
  • If you pay full chemical tax for the product, and it also contains some other substance from the Candidate List that is not covered by the chemical tax, the product will continue to receive the regular price.
  • Products containing only components with less than 0.1% by weight of substances on the Candidate List will also qualify for a 10% discount.

What does the Candidate List and the REACH Regulation mean?

The REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) is a European legislation that regulates the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals to ensure their safety for humans and the environment.

The Candidate List is a list of substances that are assessed as being of particular concern to human health and the environment under the REACH Regulation and may be subject to restrictions or approval requirements.

The list of candidates can be found on this website:
